You don't know love from Shinola

It's been awhile since my last blog - too long. I can only chalk it up to laziness. Anyway, I just have to write about the new Dolly Parton CD, "Backwoods Barbie." It has been in heavy rotation for the past week and it's good. Really good. She sounds great and her lyrics resonate with where I am in my life right now. Some of it is a little over the top and too self-helpy, but I think Dolly is the only artist that could pull it off. I do have to say that the album has lifted my mood, and as cheesy as it is, I do enjoy "Better Get to Livin'." My favorite song on the album so far is "Somebody's Everything." It has a great lyric and sentiment, nuff said. "Shinola" is another stand out on the album and it is a FUN song.

Before I close, I have one other recommendation - Melissa Etheridge, The Awakening. This is the other CD that has been in heavy rotation. It's a great concept album with impeccable song writing. "The Kingdom of Heaven" is one of the best songs written in recent memory and I'm tryting to figure out how I'm going to use this one in church, becuase it says so much and says it simply:

My God is love
My God is peace
My God loves you
My God loves me
